Departure to Uplistsikhe – an impressive cave-city in Eastern Georgia, which was a significant cultural center before the Christian era. The name Uplistsikhe literally means “The God’s Castle”. Step back in time as you wander the caves, passing temples, which predate Christianity, pagan sacrificial sites, bakeries, an amphitheater and a Christian basilica.

Kakheti region is located in the eastern part of Georgia. First stop you will have to the one of the biggest winery of Georgia, where you will have a chance to learn more about the process of wine-making and taste wine for free from CAPITAL GEORGIA TRAVEL.
Later on we will visit the nunnery of Bodbe, a significant pilgrimage site in Georgia due to its association with St Nino.
3km away is St Nino’s spring, assumed to have been created through St Nino’s prayers and believed to have strong healing powers. We’ll then move on to the highlight of today’s tour – a visit to Signagi, the so-called “city of love”.
Packed full of 19 th century architecture Signagi resembles an Italian city with its Mediterranean-style colorful, small houses and narrow old streets. With view over the Alazani valley to the Caucasus on the horizon the town is a very pleasant place to walk around during afternoon.

In the morning we will depart to Kazbegi. Our journey will take us along the Georgian Military Road to the fortress and monastery of Ananuri which is located on the bank of Jinvali reservoir. Ananuri is the seat of the Dukes of Argavi, a dynasty which ruled the area during the middle ages and saw many battles won and lost. Later on we will visit the pride of many Georgians – the ski resort Gudauri, located at an altitude of 2195m.With kilometers of ski runs, the cheapest ski passes in Europe and sun drenched south facing slopes the resort offers fabulous terrain for beginners and advanced skiers alike.
In summer hiking, horse riding, birdwatching and climbing are some of the many activities on offer.

It is a small city on the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. You’ll visit winery of famous Kindzmarauli Corporation. The history of Corporation Kindzmarauli dates back to 1533, and is connected with the construction of the Kvareli fortress. Since the 70s, the vineyards have been passed through several owners, and changed into Joint Stock Company status. They export to 10 countries, and have cognac spirits with 3-23

Then you’ll visit Gremi fortress, built by Levan, King of Kakhetians in the 16th century. It was an important town of Kakheti region in middle ages. In the 15th century Gremi was the residence of Kakheti Royal family. The construction occupies over 50 hectares of space, and is erected on the site, featuring highly contrasting relief. Drive back to Tbilisi, on the way you’ll stop to village Velistsikhe at the wine cellar-museum Numisi. The cellar is built in ancient classical architecture with white river stones and bricks. The cellar introduces excellent arched wine storage, with old limestone wine presser (Satsnakheli) & 33 clay pitchers (Qvevi) sunk underneath the ground. Take a glance at the large collection of copper, glass, pottery, and timber vessels (mostly used for wine drinking), as well as the other items like woman jewelry, necklaces, rings, XVIII century wine copper kitchen utensils, old carpets and furniture.

In 1185 Queen Tamar ordered construction of an underground refuge, in a bid to provide a place of sanctuary for Georgians resisting the Mongol hordes. You will see the most important sights of the city and visit the iconic 11th century Bagrati Cathedral. The cathedral has been extensively restored after it’s cupola was destroyed and ceiling brought down by invading Ottoman troops in 1692.
Free time to have a lunch, afterwards you continue the way to Martvili Canyon, which is a real natural wonder. It used to be a bath place for Georgian Nobles, Dadiani family. (Entrance ticket price is 9 USD PP, boat price is 10 USD PP).

One of Georgia’s natural wonders the cave was discovered in 1984 and includes stalactites and stalagmites as well as many rivers. After you’ll visit Sataplia Nature Reserve. It is famous for fine speleothems and the dinosaur footprints nearby.
The tour enters the through-cave on one hillside, crosses the hill underground and then goes back on the surface past the dinosaur footprints. The cave is named after Mt. Sataplia (494m), an extinct volcano, which is now the Nature Preserve.

Dashbashi Canyon Natural Monument is a canyon carved by Ktsia (Khrami) River in the stream bed cut through the volcanogenic rocks of Dashbash volcanic plateau, distinguished by its rarity and biodiversity. It is located at 1,110-1,448 m above sea level. Here you can have a picnic too.
