DAY 1 Arrival to Tbilisi, transfer , tour to Tbilisi
Arrival to Tbilisi, meeting with driver, transfer to chosen hotel category, free time.
Meeting with your guide at hotel lobby. Tour to Tbilisi:
First stop will be at glorious Sameba – the main cathedral and the tallest religious building of the country. Next up is Metekhi Church located in the neighborhood of the same name and gracefully situated on a cliff above Mtkvari River. Your guide will then take you to the new Rike Park to admire the view and perhaps take a few photos in front of The Bridge of Peace, a stunning modern structure designed by Italian architects and one of the new symbols of the city.
One of the highlights of the day is a visit to Narikala – the capital’s ancient fortress, where the stunning views over the city will open out before you. You’ll be whisked to the top in a cable car and after your visit will wander down by foot through the narrow and historic streets of the Old Town, among them the newly renovated Shardeni – the street which never sleeps, and one of Tbilisi’s nighttime hot spots.
Walking to Legvtakhevi gorge, where you’ll see the waterfall. Transfer to the hotel. Free evening.
DAY 2 Tour Tbilisi Open Air museum of Ethnography and Mtskheta
After breakfast, visit Tbilisi Open Air museum of Ethnography, where you’ll see the examples of folk architecture and craftwork from various regions of the country.
After you’ll departure to city Mtskheta – the old, legendary capital of Georgia, just 20km from the city center. The historic capital of Eastern Georgia (Kartli) and set at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi Rivers, Mtskheta has remained at the spiritual heart of Georgia since Christianity was established. you’ll visit Jvari Monastery (Monastery of the Cross), previously a pagan temple and latterly turned into Christian church. Perched on a windblown, rocky promontory, take some time to enjoy the exceptional scenery and take some photos of this amazing UNESCO world heritage listed structure. The Svetitskhoveli cathedral remains at the center of the Orthodox church. Legend has it that a seamless robe of Christ’s is buried somewhere within the temple and you’ll find fragments of paintings dating back to the 11th century, including one depicting a hand which stories tell is the hand of the cathedrals architect which king Giorgi amputated to stop him making another cathedral as beautiful as Svetitskhoveli. After tour drive back to Tbilisi.
DAY 3 Tour to Kakheti: Bodbe, Signagi
Breakfast in the hotel. This day is dedicated to a visit of Kakheti, in the eastern part of Georgia, famous for the old tradition of wine-making. We will visit the nunnery of Bodbe, a significant pilgrimage site in Georgia due to its association with St. Nino. 3km away are St Nino’s spring, believed to have been created through St Nino’s prayers and believed to have strong healing powers. We’ll then move on to the highlight of today’s tour – a visit to Signagi, the so-called “city of love”. Packed full of 19th century architecture Signagi resembles an Italian city with its Mediterranean-style colorful, small houses and narrow old streets. With views over the Alazani valley to the Caucasus on the horizon the town is a very pleasant place to while away an afternoon. Optional: Here at the wine cellar you’ll have degustation of wine and Georgian vodka chacha with Kakhetian lunch. (Price 22 USD PP) After excursion drive back to Tbilisi.
DAY 4 Transfer to Yerevan, Sevanavank, lake Sevan
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out. Procced to Bagratashen (Sadakhlo) crossing border by foot with luggage, meeting with Armenian guide and driver, First stop will be on Lake Sevan – the largest in the Caucasus, as well as one of the largest alpine freshwater lakes on Earth. The lake consists of two unequal parts – Big Sevan and Small Sevan. Of the historical monuments on the coast of Sevan, the most legendary is the monastery of Sevanavank, located on a peninsula in the north-western part of the lake. Initially, the monastery was located on the peninsula, although in connection with a decrease in the water level, an isthmus appeared connecting the peninsula to land. On the western slope of there is another monastery called- Ayrivank. Today, Sevan is one of the favorite and most visited resorts for tourists. Arrival to Yerevan, hotel accommodation at chosen hotel category. Free evening.
DAY 5 Tour to Yerevan
Breakfast in the hotel. Meeting with your guide, city tour of Armenian capital. Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world with a rich dramatic history. It is widely known as the “pink city” because the main part of the city center was built with the pink tufa. Your guide will show you the best of Yerevan so keep the memories of this visit for a long time. A photo-stop on the Republic Square. Visit museum Tsitsernakabern -the Armenian Genocide memorial complex, which is Armenia’s official memorial dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, built in 1967 on the hill of Tsitsernakaberd. After you’ll have an excursion with the degustation in the Brandy factory. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 6 Tour to Echmiadzin, Garni and Gegard
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to the ancient capital of Armenia – Vagarshapat town, also known as Echmiadzin. It’s unofficially dubbed as “the holy city of Armenia” because of Echmiadzin Cathedral, the most important Armenian Church, is situated exactly here. Excursion on the territory of Katolikasat – residence of the head of the Armenian Apostolic church, visiting St. Echmiadzin Cathedral.
Proceed to one of the most impressive sights of Armenia – Garni Temple – pagan Temple of the Sun, built in the Roman Empire era and reconstructed in the Soviet period. This is the only such building in all post-USSR countries and now stands as one of the most iconic landmarks of Armenia. Another place of visit today is Geghard – monastery complex, unique architectural construction and the manifest of Armenian medieval architecture. After drive back to Yerevan.
DAY 7 Tour to Khor Virap,Noravank. Visit winery
Breakfast in the hotel, drive to Khor Virap. The monastery is located close to the border between Armenia and Turkey, on a hill near the village of Pokr Vedi. Long ago it was the site where Artashat, the ancient Armenian capital, was located. At the end of this day you’ll visit Noravank monastery, was founded in 1205 by Bishop Hovhannes, and it was the last work of master sculptor and architect Momik (he is buried here). On site there are three churches, St. Karapet Church, Surb Astvatsatsin Church and St. Stepanos Church. After will have stop to wine village Areni, where you’ll visit local winery and have wine degustation.
Drive back to Yerevan.
DAY 8 Departure
Breakfast in the hotel.
Your driver will meet you at the hotel lobby for the scheduled transfer to Zvartnots International Airport.
