DAY 1 Arrival to Tbilisi. Transfer
Arrival to Tbilisi, (optional: Transfer from Kutaisi airport to Tbilisi for extra pay). Driver will meet you at the airport with sign: “Capital Georgia Travel”. Transfer to the hotel of your choice and accommodation.
DAY 2 City tour to Tbilisi
Breakfast in the hotel. Start your personal discovery of Georgia with a city tour of its capital city, Tbilisi. First stop will be at glorious Sameba – the main cathedral and the tallest religious building of the country. Next up is Metekhi Church located in the neighborhood of the same name and gracefully situated on a cliff above Mtkvari river. Your guide will then take you to the new Rike Park to admire the view and perhaps take a few photos in front of The Bridge of Peace, a stunning modern structure designed by Italian architects and one of the new symbols of the city.
One of the highlights of the day is a visit to Narikala – the capital’s ancient fortress, where the stunning views over the city will open out before you. You’ll be whisked to the top in a cable car and after your visit will wander down by foot through the narrow and historic streets of the Old Town, among them the newly renovated Shardeni kucha – the street which never sleeps, and one of Tbilisi’s nighttime hot spots.
Walking to Legvtakhevi gorge, where you’ll see the waterfall. Then under the tunnel Meidanbazar you will have opportunity to buy Georgian sauces and spices. After visit the oldest church of Tbilisi Anchiskhati with its unique museum of Georgian guns and swords.
Transfer to the hotel, accommodation. Free evening
DAY 3 Tour to Kakheti: Ujarma, Telavi
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out from the hotel and departure to the Eastern part of Georgia – the wine region Kakheti. We will go through Gombori Pass, a stop near fortress Ujarma – nowadays only ruins are left from this once glorious structure which used to be a residence of the Georgian monarchs in the early Middle Ages. Thereafter we will visit New Shuamta – the monastery complexes.
Arrival to the capital of Kakheti Telavi.
Visit King Erekle II palace (Batonis Tsikhe), served as the residence of Kakhetian Kings between 17th and 18th century. The castle encloses two churches, the ruins of a royal bathhouse, and the Persian style Palace of King Erekle.
In Telavi you’ll visit Georgian cheese enterprise. Here you will have opportunity to taste 3 sort of cheese and see how they are making with Georgian traditions. Hotel accommodation.
DAY 4 Tour to Kakheti: Tsinandali, Signagi. Transfer to Tbilisi
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out.
Stop in the palace of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze in Tsinandali, unique park and winery. Here we will have the best wine tasting (5 sorts). We’ll then move on to the highlight of today’s tour – Signagi, the so-called “city of love”. Packed full of 19th century architecture Signagi resembles an Italian city with its Mediterranean-style colorful, small houses and narrow old streets. With views over the Alazani valley to the Caucasus on the horizon the town is a very pleasant place to while away an afternoon. Here at the wine cellar you’ll have degustation of wine and Georgian vodka Chacha.
Drive back to Tbilisi, accommodation, free evening.
DAY 5 Tour to Kazbegi: Ananuri, Gergeti Trinity Church.
In the morning we will depart for Kazbegi. Our journey will take us along the Georgian Military Road to the fortress and monastery of Ananuri which is located on the bank of Jinvali reservoir. Ananuri is the seat of the Dukes of Argavi, a dynasty which ruled the area during the middle ages and saw many battles won and lost.
Later on we will visit the pride of many Georgians – the ski resort Gudauri, located at an altitude of 2195m. Finally, we will go up the mountain and enjoy the breath-taking views from the Gergety Trinity Church – built in medieval time the church is located on the slope of Mount Kazbek with the Caucus mountains rising in the background. The only cross-cupola church in Khevi, photos of the church and detached bell-tower have become symbols of Georgia, inspiring travelers to from across the world to visit Georgia.
After the tour, we will travel back to Tbilisi.
DAY 6 Tour to Mtskheta and Borjomi. Transfer to Akhaltsikhe
After breakfast, check out. Departure to Mtskheta – the old, legendary capital of Georgia, just 20km from the city center. You’ll visit Jvari Monastery (Monastery of the Cross), previously a pagan temple and latterly turned into Christian church. Perched on a windblown, rocky promontory, take some time to enjoy the exceptional scenery and take some photos of this amazing UNESCO world heritage listed structure. The Svetitskhoveli cathedral remains at the center of the Orthodox church.
Proceed to Borjomi, which is an incredibly beautiful place, located in a lush valley of the Mtkvari River and famous for its spring water and Romanov Summer palace, Likani. Here you will visit the famous Borjomi National Park, where you can taste real Borjomi water right from the spring.
Arrival to Akhaltsikhe. Hotel accommodation.
DAY 7 Excursion to Rabati castle and Vardzia. Transfer to Kutaisi
After breakfast, check out. Here in Akhaltsikhe you’ll visit Rabati castle. Built in the 13th century, Rabati castle developed under the influence of different cultures over subsequent centuries and this is reflected in its architecture. Within the 7 hectares castle complex there is a Church, a Mosque, a Minaret and a Synagogue. After departure to cave city Vardzia. The main period of construction was the second half of the twelfth century. The caves stretch along the cliff for some five hundred meters and in up to nineteen tiers.
After excursion drive to Kutaisi, accommodation.
DAY 8 Excursion to Racha region
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out. Departure to amazing mountain region Racha. On the way stop to visit cave Prometheus, one of Georgia’s natural wonders. The cave was discovered in 1984 and includes stalactites and stalagmites as well as many rivers. Lit with lovely illuminations visitors can enjoy petrified waterfalls and beautiful rock formations in the 6 cave complex. On the way you’ll stop to visit sightseeing of Racha, Nikortsminda cathedral a UNESCO World Heritage Site candidate. Cathedral is generously decorated with rich ornamental relief depicting Transfiguration, Doomsday and other evangelic subjects, figures of the Saints, and of real and fantastic beasts. After arrival to Ambrolauri, a small city with a population of only 2,000 people located 550 m (1,800 ft) above sea level. Accommodation and dinner at the hotel.
DAY 9 Tour to Kutaisi sights
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out. Drive back to Kutaisi, visit Cathedral Bagrati, is an 11th-century cathedral masterpiece of the medieval Georgian architecture. Then you will experience monasteries Motsameta and Gelati. Hotel accommodation in Kutaisi.
DAY 10 Transfer to Mestia
After breakfast, check out. Departure to Zugdidi, where we will visit elegant ancestral palace – museum of Megrelian dukes Dadiani, which is one of Georgia’s most beautiful examples of 19th century architecture.
The complex was built primarily by Russian architect Leonid Vassilyev. It includes the palace of Ekaterine Chavchavadze-Dadiani, the last queen of Samegrelo, a residence for her son Niko Dadiani, a monastery, and a large garden, which is now known as Zugdidi Botanical Garden.
Then visit to Enguri reservoir. Departure to Svaneti. Arrival to Mestia. Dinner and overnight here.
DAY 11 Tour to Mestia and Ushguli
Breakfast in the hotel.
Visit The Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography. There are six halls of permanent exhibitions encompassing manuscripts from the 9th-18th centuries, unique icons, archaeological and ethnographic items.
Then you’ll see magnificent medieval Svan towers. Departure towards Ushguli by 4Х4 jeep WITHOUT GUIDE, located at the foot of the mountain Shkhara. Ancient castles stand proudly in front of the highest peak in Georgia-Shkhara. After excursion, drive back to Mestia. Dinner and overnight here.
DAY 12 Transfer to Batumi
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out. Meeting with new driver and transfer to Batumi, the capital of seaside province of Ajara. For several centuries it was conquered by the Ottoman Empire, hence the significant amount of population was converted to Islam. Nowadays it preserves a status of autonomous republic in Georgia.
Hotel accommodation, free evening.
DAY 13 Batumi city tour, train transfer to Tbilisi
After breakfast, check out. You will meet your guide at the hotel lobby and start the city tour of Batumi.
You will start the discovery of the city from the seaside boulevard. Seeing the exteriors of House of Justice, Statue of Love and brand new buildings of the world known hotels. Take a walk on the famous Batumi Piazza – the square which was built as a replica of Italian city square.
Visit to Botanical Garden of Batumi which was famous all over the USSR for its unique eco-systems and a collection of various exotic plants.
Transfer to Batumi Railway station for taking train Batumi-Tbilisi. (Upon request transfer to Kutaisi airport without extra fee).
23:00 Arrival to Tbilisi, transfer to the hotel, accommodation.
DAY 14 Departure
Breakfast in a hotel. Check-out. Transfer to the airport of Tbilisi.
