Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Gurjaani – Telavi – Kutaisi, Borjomi-Samegrelo – Mtskheta – Tbilisi

 

 

1st day. Arrival to Tbilisi. Transfer to hotel. Some rest after the flight.
Departure for a city tour. Visit of the old part of the city: Sameba Cathedral, Metekhi Cathedral (XIII century). Fortress Narikala – so called soul of Tbilisi. Walk within sparkling streets of the city. Dinner in the restaurant – tasting of national Georgian cuisine (additional fee). Optional visit of performance of folkloric theatre “Nabadi” (additional fee). Overnight in a hotel.

2nd day. Breakfast in a hotel. Breakfast in a hotel. Departure to the eastern part of Georgia – Kakheti, wine region. Arrival to Sighnaghi – the city of love. City tour. Visit to Monastery Bodbe. Going down to the St. Nino’s Spring (by foot about 30 min. – optional and if the weather is favorable).
Next stop is town Gurjaani. Visit of monument ‘Father of Soldier’. Thereafter you will enjoy wine from local cellar and will have good opportunity to taste wine directly from the kvevri (big pottery jar). Late dinner (early supper) in «Gurjaani wine house». Here tourists will have opportunity to see how Georgian bread is baked, participate in making shashlyk, khachapuri, churchkhela and also taste traditional Kakhetian wine and chacha.
After pleasant and tasty dinner, arrival to Telavi – administrative center of Kakheti. Guest House check-in. Free time. In the evening, dinner, cooked by mistress and consisting of Kakhetian dishes and homemade Georgian wines.

3rd day. Breakfast in a hotel. Visit of Kakhetian market and Palace of the Georgian King Erekle II. Next stop is palace of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze in Tsinandali, unique park and winery. Here we suggest the best wine tasting (5 sorts) – optional. Thereafter we will visit Alaverdi Monastery and monastery complex and academy Ikalto.
Arrival to Tbilisi. Free evening. Overnight in a hotel.

4th day. Breakfast in a hotel, check-out. Departure to western part of Georgia. Stop in Borjomi, tasting real healing Borjomi water from the spring and visit of famous Kharagauli Park.
Arrival to the beautiful city Kutaisi – center of Imereti region. Sightseeing: Monastery Bagrati, Monastery Motsameta, thereafter Monastery and Academy Gelati, Sataplia cave (underground streams, stalactites and stalagmites, preserved dinosaur footprints). In the evening we will start lesson of Georgian cuisine: how to cook imereti khachapuri, chmereli (chicken dish), aubergine with Georgian pkhali and nuts. Later on we will enjoy cooked by yourself tasties. Overnight in a guesthouse in Kutaisi located on the mountain.

5th day. Breakfast in a hotel. Departure for Samegrelo. On the way, stop in Martvili Monastery. Visit to the ancient Nakalakevi city (according to legend, Golden Fleece was stolen by the Argonauts from this area).
In the evening again enjoying Georgian specialities, this time Georgian cheese. We will try to make Georgian cheese suluguni with our own hands as well as famous dish from corn meal and suluguni – elardzhi. After finishing cooking, we will taste it together with other Georgian dishes. Overnight in Kutaisi.

6th day. Breakfast in a hotel. Departure to Tbilisi. Stop in Mtskheta – second Jerusalem, an ancient town. Visit of the Cathedral Svetitskhoveli (XI century). Going up to the monastery Jvari (V century). Here in Mtskheta we will visit a wine cellar of a hospitable Georgian rural family and will taste Georgian wine and chacha + will have lessons of cooking Georgian cuisine + rural Georgian delicious dinner. Tasting of Georgian dish khinkali and learning how to cook it. Arrival to Tbilisi.
Optional: Visiting sparkling wine factory “Bagration 1882” in Tbilisi, where you will enhance your knowledge of sparkling wine production methods and enjoy a variety of 12 wines with some cheese, fruits and delicious Georgian bread (lavash).
Overnight in a hotel in Tbilisi.

7th day.   Breakfast in a hotel. Visit of Georgian market, Dry Bridge, where you will be able to buy national souvenirs for your relatives and friends.
Transfer to the airport. Completion of service and happy return home.
