EXPEDITION TO MOUNTAIN KAZBEGI – 5054 M

DAY 1 Arrival to Tbilisi
Arrival to Tbilisi, (optional: Transfer from Kutaisi airport to Tbilisi for extra fee).
Group transfer to the hotel of your choice and accommodation.
DAY 2 Tour to Ananuri, Gudauri, Kazbegi (Stepantsminda)
After breakfast, check out. You will depart for Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) without guide. Our journey will take us along the Georgian Military Road to the fortress and monastery of Ananuri, which is located on the bank of Jinvali reservoir. Ananuri is the seat of the Dukes of Argavi, a dynasty, which ruled the area during the middle ages and saw many battles won and lost.
Arrival to Kazbegi. Accommodation in the guest house.
In the evening dinner in the guest house. Overnight.
DAY 3 Visit Gergety Trinity Church, trekking
Trekking distance 8 km, time 3-4 h, total climb 100m, total descent 100 m.
Breakfast in the guest house. Free time for preparation and buying food for expedition.
Drive to Gergety Trinity Church – built in medieval time the church is located on the slope of Mount Kazbek with the Caucus Mountains rising in the background. The only cross-cupola church in Khevi, photos of the church and detached bell-tower have become symbols of Georgia, inspiring travelers to from across the world to visit Georgia. Trekking start from here at 2170 m a.s.l.
DAY 4 Trekking to Meteo station
Trekking distance 8 km, time 3-4 h, total climb 650m, total descent 0 m.
Today we will trek to the first glacier and overnight in Meteo Station – 3650 m a.s.l. in tents.
Horses with luggage also will be there.
DAY 5 Acclimatization day
Trekking distance 6 km, time 4 h, total climb 450m, total descent 450 m.
Acclimatization day. Overnight in tents.
DAY 6 Climbing to Mt. Kazbegi
Trekking distance 16 km, time 10-14 h, total climb 1400m, total descent 1400 m.
This day we plan to stand on the top of Mt. Kazbek (5054 m a.s.l.).
After return from the summit we rest and spend the night in the base by the Meteo Station. Overnight in tents.
DAY 7 Backup day
Backup day if it will be necessary in case of bad weather conditions in the mountains. Overnight will be in tents.
DAY 8 Trek to Gergety Trinity Church, transfer to Stepantsminda
Trekking distance 16 km, time 5-6h, total climb 100m, total descent 1550 m.
Trek back to Gergeti trinity, transfer to Stepantsminda. Accommodation.
In the evening we’ll take part in a ceremonial supra (Georgian party), will have master-classes of Khinkali and will discover the secrets of Georgian toasts. Overnight in the guest house.
DAY 9 Transfer to Tbilisi
Breakfast in the guest house, meeting with your driver, transfer to Tbilisi. Accommodation to the hotel. Free evening.
DAY 10 Departure
Breakfast in the hotel, check out. Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport. (Optional: Transfer from Tbilisi to Kutaisi airport for extra fee). Completion of service.
